Statistics on Public School Vs Homeschooling

In the past, performance statistics on public schooling vs homeschooling have been scarce. However, in recent years, as the percentages of families who choose to take education matters into their own hands has increased, so too has the amount of research done on how home schooling measures up to public school education.  Refer to Statistics on Public School Vs Homeschooling

  1. This was a very good article. Clear and precise without a lot of overkill. I think I will share this in a future blog post.

  2. NHERI is an awesome site for homeschooling stats. Great article, too. Of course, we homeschooled for 16 yrs ~ 2 girls, K-12 ~ & I'd do it all again in a heartbeat!

I FINALLY, at age 49, got my degree in 2008 (Biblical Studies) & did my final thesis on "The Biblical Basis for Homeschooling Christian Children."

  3. Very encouraging. Could do with studies like this in the UK where home education is less common and less well accepted even by Christians.

  4. If only this debate really were about the realities of superior education...then, this article would be even more exciting. Instead, we who advocate and practice home education will need to continue explaining to the world why we won't hand them over our children.

  5. As a statistician in Australia I find this very interesting as there are no comprehensive statistics on homeschooling in this country and certainly nothing to make any comparisons. Even our state data is pretty poor, however it is difficult to get a complete picture as not all parents register their children through the state education systems (as they do not wish to be "control" by them, as they want complete freedom).

It would be good if it was part of the education question on our 5 yearly Census, but that isn't likely to happen unless the homeschooling lobby pushes for it.

Your blog has been an enjoyable read.

    Blessings
