Homemade dresses and much more...

Here are two pictures of our first try at a simple Regency dress. More dresses and pictures to come.

And here are some pictures of a recent trip to the nature park and pond by our home.

Early morning beauty...

Exploring the garden...

Patiently waiting...

Finally we are on our way...

Look both ways...

God's wonderful nature!

So much to see...

Home again! Little Patience had so much to discover and take in...

Thank you, Jesus!

  1. Those dresses are beautiful. They look like something I may be able to handle. Do you have a pattern number for these? My girls would love them.

  3. I love the dress! It looks sweet, comfortable, and beautiful! And you made it out of a sheet? Does it have a lining?

  4. great pictures! i just discovered your blog (and many others of american- christian- homeschoolers- hobbyfarmers... ;-))
and its such an inspiration to me! here in germany there is no lifestyle like yours and its even hard to find other christians! some things you write in your blog seem strange to me, i dont always agree on what you say but mostly i am just overwhelmed by how you talk about your family, care for your children and praise the Lord! and how your education "works"- your children seem to be all so lovely!
sorry for my english and greetings from germany!

  7. The dress is really pretty. I am about ready to start sewing again. All the hand me downs are worn out and you cannot find pretty modest clothes anywhere.

  8. What a beautiful dress!

I do quite a bit of sewing myself, for the home and for my wardrobe, but as I only have boys at home, I am looking for some ideas on designing clothing for them. Any ideas you can give me?

  12. Dearest,

I just love visiting your blog. I have three grown children (always wanted more...but He is in control and decided that three was enough for me) so I very much enjoy the adventures of a Mom of so many!

I would love to have the pattern number of the beautiful dresses you were kind enough to share?

    Yours so kindredly,

  16. I love the dress. I just know that your girls will feel so pretty wearing them. I have only 5 children, but my oldest is a girl (she's 24) and I know how important it was to make her feel "pretty" even on my extremely limited budget and also to make sure she understood that she was to be demure. I succeeded in doing that, and now that she is on her own she texts me pictures from her cell phone when she shops for herself. Most recently, it was for a wedding that she was to attend and she wanted my opinion on whether to buy a "wrap" for the dress she wanted to wear. Of course, I said "yes" to the wrap! As Moms, we instill that consciousness in our girls from a very young age. That's our only opportunity! My only other daughter is now almost 6 ... and she looks to me and her big sister for her example. I love that my girls are modest. It creates a wonderful "sense of self" for them ... that they never have to waste precious time questioning.

Thank you for this blog! It ministers to me in ways that you'll never know! Please keep blessing us!

    ~Patty

  17. What a pretty dress. That looks like something my 4 girls would love. I'm would also like to see a pattern. It's just hard to find modest dresses like that these days, especially for so cheap.

  20. I love the dress and I hope you can share where you found the pattern as the stores around me don't often carry modest patterns like that. I would love to make my three daughters some of them!

  21. Dear ones,

For those ladies who want to see a pattern for the dress posted on "Homemade dresses and much more..." I must inform you that Sherry and several of us have been dealing with sickness. Can't be sure when or if we will be able to accommodate your request for a pattern.

Nicole, our daughter, is using her God given creative talent to make these dresses by hand and may not be able to put together step-by-step instructions. We just wanted to show you what can be done with very little.

We will return to blogging when everyone is feeling better please keep us in your prayers.

    Thanks,

    Sherry's adoring husband,

    David

  24. What a beautiful dress! I've just begun to attempt some basic patterns, mainly for children's clothes, and I'm inspired by what you've been able to create so seemingly simply! Hoping that everyone is feeling well again in your house.
